Hindus in Dinajpur Protest Assault on Ganga Puja Festivities by Islamists

Hindus Prove Strength Can Subdue All Adversaries

Ganga Puja Bisarjan Jatra Attacked in Dinajpur; Hindus Pressure Administration to Intervene; Mosque Microphone Removed.

What is making Muslims aggressive all the time more? What makes Hindus apprehend the Indian state of Bengal can turn into a new Kashmir if something is not done right away? Is it due to the escalating Muslim appeasement by political parties heading statewide election? The issue is too complicated to get a simple answer without ado. But, without a shred of doubt, the situation is getting out of the frying pan into the fire and if you are in quest of a perfect specimen, have time and look into Gankur village, Itahar PS,  in North Dinajpur district of West Bengal.

This district is Muslim majority and is the political fortress of Dipa DasMunshi. It has a porous border with Bangladesh and reportedly hundreds of cows are suuggled daily to Bangladesh and Jihadis freely enter this distict from Bangladesh as well.

The problem started with the immersion of the holy murthi (Hindu religious icon) of Ganga Puja on October 2nd, 2010. As usual the Hindu crowd went ahead with dhak (percussion instrument similar to other two-sided drums in India) and ceremonial elegance and splendor. While returning through another way following the immersion (with the same pomp) the devotees were prevented by Muslims alleging the grandeur was 'injuring' the sanctity of the local mosque. The entire Hindu group consisting of mostly women was manhandled, abused for trying to 'insult' Islam, and was also even threatened with dire consequences.

The situation infuriated the Hindu faithful who reported the incident to the local police station and also informed the authorities that it was time for the Hindus to adopt counter measures if the administration proved its ineffective and helpless again.

The intensity of the worsening incident instigated police to act fast; an accord took place soon. As a result both communities agreed to reduce the amount of religious 'noise'. As a consequence, the microphone at the local mosque has been removed as well. Calmness prevails at the moment.

What can be deduced from the said instance? “Those who want to live, let them fight, and those who do not want to fight in this world of eternal struggle do not deserve to live”. What do you say?
