Islamic supremacists desecrate Kaliagunj Temple with Beef

Hindus get distressed

The day was April 24, 2011 but the situation was not similar to other days in Mahipur (village) of Hematabad (block), Dist. Dinajpur (South) in the Indian state of West Bengal. Reason behind all these was grave – beef was found in the village temple of Buri BasaliDevi adjoining Kaliagunj-Raygunj High Road, enough to hurt feelings of Hindus in the neighborhood. Kamal DebSharma, in charge of temple, without losing any time, informed the local political leaders. However they proved to be reluctant and aggrieved villagers, as a result, blocked off Kaliagunj-Raygunj High Road at 2 pm.

Police from P.S. Hematabad arrived in the evening only, took hold of beef and owing to its assurances (taking tough measures to nab criminals) road block was withdrawn. Indeed the presence of youth of Kaliagunj made police more cautious.

After a series of investigations it was learnt that Safir Muhammad (s/o deceased Khoka Muhammad), inhabitant of the same village, was behind the scene and due to his instigation, some young boys carried out the despised activity. To create more pressures on the police, 60-70 persons including villagers and young persons went to the local police station. A mass petition containing signatures of villagers was also submitted.

Kamal DebSharma filed a written complaint against the culpable Safir Muhammad and as a result, police also provided a case number – 37/11 (24/04/2011). Nevertheless, in spite of all these police is yet to arrest the culprits. What is more striking, local political leaders are either threatening Kamal DebSharma and Swapan Biswas or enticing them to settle the matter as fast as possible. There has been a good effect also; villagers have started to take in true faces of their leaders. Notably, youth of the village have stood up defying political affiliations and are all set to have punishment of the said criminals. The onus is now on the administration.

Another major incident preceded the terrible act on April 24, 2011. For protesting against taunts of Hindu girls by Muslim boys in Pahargaon (village) of Kaliagunj, Bhabesh Chandra Ray was beaten black and blue recently. Local youths complained of this to P.S. Kaliagunj and on same April 24, during a settlement in the police station, Muslim youths admitted their mistakes. They also promised that there would not be such incident any longer and also to expend for Bhabesh’s medicinal treatments.
